Skyroot Aerospace on Friday created history by sending India's first privately built rocket Vikram-S into space. The successful launch marks the entry of the private sector into the Indian space program, which has so far been government-controlled and funded. The Vikram-S rocket launched from the sounding rocket complex of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at around 11.30 am.
