India stands at the forefront of a global skills revolution. The International Labour Organization (ILO) convened the Global Skills Forum, spotlighting India’s innovative strides in skill development. Central to this discussion was the pivotal role played by the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), an initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in reshaping the nation’s skill ecosystem.
During the forum’s panel discussion on “Human-Centered Digital Transformation of Skills Development,” Ms. Shreshtha Gupta, Executive Vice President of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), hailed SIDH as a game-changer. Gupta emphasized SIDH’s role as a comprehensive digital platform, revolutionizing education and skill development. Designed as a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), SIDH’s open-source, cloud-hosted architecture facilitates agile configuration to meet diverse skilling needs.
Gupta shared an inspiring anecdote of a young girl from Jammu & Kashmir, whose aspirations in cybersecurity were realized through SIDH’s personalized learning experiences and streamlined processes. She underscored SIDH’s commitment to NSDC’s vision of skills for all, facilitating job seekers and employers alike.NSDC’s extensive network, comprising 36 Sector Skill Councils and over 35,000 employers, underscores its commitment to youth empowerment. Since its inception, NSDC has trained over 36 million candidates, with a focus on inclusivity and diversity. Through strategic partnerships and industry-driven programs, NSDC addresses skill gaps across various sectors.
