India registers over 2.5 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases, 385 deaths in last 24 hrs

India reported 2,58,089 fresh COVID-19 cases and 385 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday. The total number of COVID-19 infections in the country has moved up to 3,73,80,253 including 16,56,341 active cases. Active cases account for 4.43 per cent of the total infections. More than 300 Parliament staffers tested positive for Covid-19 between January 9 and 12, according to sources.  Due to rising COVID-19 cases, as many as 265 Maharashtra police have succumbed to the infection so far, the state police said. According to the Maharashtra Police, there are 2,145 active cases of COVID-19 in the state police.
