Traffic paralyzed as landslide hits Holongi-Itanagar National Highway

A massive landslide early this morning has disrupted the Holongi-Itanagar stretch of National Highway 415, trapping several vehicles in mud and debris. The landslide, triggered by heavy and incessant rains, has cut off a vital communication link to Donyi Polo Airport and the state of Assam. Papum Pare district’s administration and highway department have deployed two JCBs and other machinery to clear the debris and restore traffic. However, the persistent problem of illegal earth cutting has exacerbated the situation. Nine more positive cases found in Arunachal Pradesh, now total 126, an official said on Tuesday. The state now has 44 positive cases, 22 recovered, State Surveillance Officer L Jampa said. Six fresh cases were reported from worst - hit Changlang district, two from Longding, and one from Lelarada. All of them had recently returned from other states. Arunachal is still in green zone as all COVID-19 cases have been reported from government quarantine facilities, L Jampa added.

Six new Covid-19 cases in Arunachal

Six more people, including three Army personnel, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the total number of cases in the state to 67, a health department official said on Friday. Three Army men tested positive for the disease in Singchung sub-division of West Kameng district on Thursday night, while two persons were detected with the infection in Changlang and one in Longding, he said.
