Arunachal Pradesh’s Ziro Festival, a symbol of sustainability and cultural immersion, is starting a new adventure with the introduction of “Ziro On Tour.” The national festival of music, art, and community will begin in Hyderabad on February 1st and 2nd at Taramati Baradari, a 17th-century cultural monument. Through a multi-sensory experience, Ziro On Tour introduces urban audiences to the festival’s values of community spirit, sustainability, and love for independent music. With a focus on regional talent, delectable cuisine, and handicrafts, the event showcases the Northeast’s and Telangana’s rich cultural and creative heritage.
The festival’s lineup includes both well-known and up-and-coming performers, such as Rabbi Shergill, who is well-known for his Punjabi folk-rock heritage, Taba Chake, an indie sensation from Arunachal, Manipuri folk singer Mangka, and HOM, a breakthrough act from Mizoram. Ram Miriyala, Shaktisree Gopalan, and Chowraasta will all showcase their unique musical styles from the southern states. The varied lineup is completed by virtuoso musicians including Guitar Prasanna, Qawwali group Rehmat-e-Nusrat, flautist JA Jayanth, and Jyoti Hegde (India’s first female rudra veena player).
An exciting experience is promised as the Vinyl Stage will showcase innovative sounds from experimental musicians such as Sandy DG, KT, D80, and Raayal Dub. With workshops, narrative sessions, and participatory activities, Ziro On Tour offers more than just music. N Prakash Reddy, managing director of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, expressed his excitement as well. Against the backdrop of Arunachal Pradesh’s verdant paddy fields, it has developed into a venue for independent artists and environmentally concerned activities. “Ziro On Tour” ensures that the essence of the festival reaches audiences nationwide by bringing its legacy to urban areas and fostering deeper cultural connections.
