Zarina Laskar wins ‘Excellence in Fashion Entrepreneurship’ at FEMINA ACHIEVERS’ AWARDS 2025

Fashion entrepreneur Zarina Laskar has been honored with the “Excellence in Fashion Entrepreneurship” award at the FEMINA ACHIEVERS’ AWARDS 2025 NORTHEAST, held at TajVivanta, Guwahati, on March 2. Hailing from Barak Valley, Laskar has gained national and international recognition for her brand STYLEYA, which blends North-Eastern handwoven fabrics with modern designs. Founded in 2017, STYLEYA has emerged as a leading fashion label, redefining traditional wear by integrating Assam’s rich textile heritage. The brand collaborates with local artisans and women weavers, ensuring both economic empowerment and cultural preservation. With a diverse collection—including Kaftans, Burkhas, Designer Kurtis, Lehengas, and an expanding men’s line—STYLEYA has gained prominence on fashion platforms like East India Fashion Week.

“Our journey started with a dream to create distinct designer clothing using indigenous fabrics, and today, our work is appreciated on larger platforms. This award is a testament to the hard work and passion we put into STYLEYA,” said Zarina Laskar upon receiving the award. “Our mission goes beyond fashion – we aim to empower local artisans, particularly the talented women weavers of Assam, by bringing their craftsmanship to a global audience. It fills me with immense pride to see our work transcend boundaries and be recognized at such a prestigious platform.”

Guwahati has played a key role in STYLEYA’s growth, with rising demand for handcrafted and fusion fashion. As consumer preferences shift towards sustainable and regionally inspired designs, Laskar’s creations resonate with shoppers looking for exclusivity and craftsmanship. The city’s expanding retail landscape offers strong potential for further market penetration. Laskar, who also won Designer of the Year at India Style Fashion Week in Delhi, remains focused on expanding STYLEYA’s footprint and taking North-Eastern fashion to a global audience.
