YTF files FIRs over defamatory post about Pradyot Kishore

A Tripura-based social media channel, “News Anushandhan,” has come under scrutiny after allegedly posting derogatory remarks about Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party. On February 16, a Facebook post referred to Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma as “Pradyot er Batpari” (fraud), sparking outrage. The Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of Tipra Motha Party, filed multiple FIRs across various police stations in Tripura, condemning the post as defamatory and harmful.

The YTF claims the post insults the entire Lakh Tiprasa (Scheduled Tribe) community, to which Pradyot belongs, and could incite communal tensions in the state. The federation has demanded strict legal action, invoking the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

A statement from YTF emphasized that such hate speech undermines social harmony and violates the principles of responsible journalism. The group has also called for the immediate suspension of the “News Anushandhan” Facebook page under the IT Act and other relevant laws.
