Work on the Siliguri-Sikkim railway is well underway

Everything has been delayed due to lockdown across the country, Sikkim railway work resumes in unlock phase 45 km long from Sevok to Rangpo. The railway will have 5 stations, 14 tunnels and 16 bridges. Environmentalists say the railway is likely to cause mountain damage and other natural disasters, but it is also true that it will create thousands of jobs. An important link for Sikkim The Rangpo Railway project from Sebak in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, East Sikkim in West Bengal will play an important role. The train route will pass through tunnels and bridges. The railway line will have 14 tunnels, 16 major bridges and eight small and five stations – Sivok, Riang, Teesta Bazar, Meli and Rango. Teesta Bazar will be an underground railway station. The longest distance between the two stations will be about 16.6 km between Meli and Rangpur. The length of the longest tunnel is about 5.13 km

The Northeast Railway said to have played a significant role in the current Chinese-Indian war with the new passenger route of the Indian Railways.
