According to Darjeeling Himalayan Railway sources, this time the journey of the toy train will be special as AC coach is also being added to the toy train. The toy train service on the Siliguri-Darjeeling route was suspended from September 3 due to landslides in the 17 Mile area. The Siliguri-Darjeeling toy train is restarting after 23 days from 26 September.
The tourism business had to face a lot of problems due to the closure of the toy train for such a long time during the puja season. According to sources in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, an AC coach will be added to the toy train. AC coach will be available from Siliguri on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. In addition, tourists can travel in AC coaches from Darjeeling on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Sabyasachi De, Public Relations Officer of North-Border Railway said, “We are getting huge bookings during the Puja season. Tourists are booking tickets in large numbers. Keeping in mind their convenience, AC coaches have been arranged. During the puja, the rush of tourists is so much that we have to plan separately and take bookings.”
