The Mizoram government is set to build a ropeway at Vantawng Falls, located near Thenzawl in the Serchhip district, as part of an initiative to improve the state’s tourism infrastructure. This project, which will provide visitors with a bird’s-eye view of the state’s highest waterfall, is funded through the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, with ₹34.50 crore already sanctioned for its implementation. While administrative approval and expenditure clearance have been secured, the process of selecting a contractor for construction is still ongoing. Vantawng Falls, situated approximately 92 kilometers from Aizawl, is renowned as one of Mizoram’s major tourist attractions, attracting both domestic and international visitors. Local officials and stakeholders are optimistic that the new ropeway will significantly enhance the visitor experience, improve accessibility, and elevate the site’s status to that of a world-class destination. Additionally, the project is anticipated to generate job opportunities and provide a substantial boost to tourism in the Thenzawl area.
