The US has deemed the attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco by certain pro-Khalistan protesters as “completely unacceptable,” and it has reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of diplomatic facilities and the diplomats who operate inside of them. The demonstrators planted two ‘Khalistan flags’ inside the Consulate’s grounds on Sunday while shouting pro-Khalistan slogans and tearing down the temporary security barricades put up by the local police. These flags were shortly taken down by two consular employees. Soon after, a group of irate protestors stormed the premises of the consulate and began bashing the door and glass with iron bars.
