Unity Key for Indigenous Rights, Says Tipra Motha Party Chief

Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarma has called for unity among the indigenous communities of Tripura, warning that political disagreements are hindering development and threatening future generations. Speaking at a program in Dhalai district, he expressed concern that division among communities, marked by sub-community identities such as Chakma, Reang, Jamatia, or Debbarma, weakens collective aspirations for prosperity. Pradyot emphasized his vision of seeing all individuals as indigenous people of Tripura, arguing that tribal divisions cater to political rivalry rather than the welfare of the public.

He stressed the necessity of a united indigenous front to secure rights, resources, and equitable development, asserting that collective action is essential for success. Pradyot pointed to pressing issues in governance and infrastructure, advocating for prioritization of housing, roads, hospitals, and schools over partisan political debates. He condemned the prevailing political discourse in the state, which he believes focuses excessively on rivalry at the expense of practical solutions.

Furthermore, Pradyot critiqued the operational constraints of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, highlighting its reliance on state government funding that could impede progress if not adequately provided. Overall, his appeal underscores the importance of collective effort and inclusive development to uplift the indigenous populations of Tripura.
