Union Minister Annapurna Devi visits Kra Daadi, focuses on women and child welfare

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, on Friday visited Arunachal Pradesh’s Kra Daadi district, underlining the Centre’s commitment to empowering women and children in remote regions through welfare schemes and local engagement. Her visit, marked by a series of interactions and inspections, began at the New Age Learning Centre (NALC) located within Byabang Heri Government Higher Secondary School in Palin. Accompanied by state officials and community leaders, the Minister observed the learning environment and participated in a symbolic tree plantation drive—highlighting the dual focus on education and environmental sustainability. At the General Ground in Palin, the Minister toured various exhibition stalls put up by departments of Health, Women and Child Development (WCD), and local Self Help Groups (SHGs). She interacted with beneficiaries and praised the community-led development efforts, urging women and youth to take full advantage of government schemes.

A key moment of the visit was her presence at the Poshan Pakhwada celebration held at Nyokum Hall. The event showcased achievements under the flagship Poshan Abhiyaan, focused on improving nutrition levels among women and children. The Minister reiterated the importance of nutrition awareness and encouraged local participation in such campaigns. Later, she inspected the District Hospital in Palin, where she reviewed healthcare services and held direct discussions with medical staff. The visit aimed to identify ground-level challenges and improve service delivery, especially for women and children. The day concluded with a high-level review meeting held at the Panchayat Conference Hall in Palin. District officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and heads of departments, participated in discussions centered on the implementation of key schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mission Shakti, and the Aspirational Block Programme.

Minister Annapurna Devi expressed satisfaction over the district’s progress but emphasized the need for more convergence, real-time monitoring, and stronger outreach. “We are committed to ensuring that every woman and child in Arunachal Pradesh is empowered, educated, and nurtured. The Centre will continue to work closely with the State to address gaps and strengthen last-mile delivery,” she stated.
