UK’s King Charles honours Queen Elizabeth II’s pallbearers

The eight pallbearers who carried the late Queen Elizabeth II’s casket during her funeral last year were honoured by Britain’s King Charles III on Saturday in a special Demise honours list. The silver Royal Victorian Medal has been presented to the British troops from the King’s Company of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, formerly known as the Queen’s Company, who were chosen to serve as pallbearers. They received honours as part of a unique collection of Demise awards from the Royal Victorian Order (RVO) in remembrance of their devotion to the Queen, who passed away last September at the age of 96. In contrast to other royal honours, the RVO is given by the British monarch and is not given on the Prime Minister’s recommendation as a particular acknowledgement.
