Ujjivan Small Finance Bank partners with Water.org

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (Ujjivan SFB) has partnered with Water.org, a non-profit organization that provides affordable financing for safe water and sanitation. India has the highest population globally, and this partnership holds immense promise in offering affordable financing solutions for safe water and sanitation solutions to the masses. Water.org will aid Ujjivan SFB in identifying areas needing financing for clean water and sanitation. They will offer technical assistance, market assessment, IEC material development, and monitoring support. Ujjivan SFB will offer loans ranging from ₹6,000 to ₹1,000 for renovating water and sanitation facilities.

Ujjivan SFB’s Managing Director & CEO, Mr. Ittira Davis, expressed delight at the collaboration and emphasized the potential of Ujjivan SFB’s strong branch presence and expertise in the microbanking space in mainstreaming water & sanitation (WASH) lending. The WATSAN loan aims to address the challenges of safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and a hygienic environment through the creation of low-cost infrastructure for customers.

Last year, Ujjivan SFB disbursed over 5,000 Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) loans worth ₹30 crore, aligning with the Indian government’s Swachh Bharat mission. The partnership aims to provide safe drinking water and hygienic sanitization facilities to 65,000 households over the next three years.
