Uber launched its operations in Agartala with its popular Uber Auto service, which will offer riders convenient and affordable mobility solutions to support their travel needs in the new normal. The launch marks Uber’s presence in its 83rd Indian city, and the first in Tripura.
The expansion of Uber Auto to Agartala is in line with Uber’s ‘India to Bharat’ strategy to increase its footprint and product offerings to regional markets, thereby realising its vision of providing doorstep pickups, safe and contactless payments, all at affordable prices. As millions of Indians begin moving again, Uber aims to offer convenient pick-ups, hassle-free rides, digital payment options and promote e-hail over the traditional street hail model for Auto rickshaws. Safety remains a top priority and over the last few months, Uber has made substantial investments to procure safety supplies for drivers and implemented innovative technology-driven solutions to help riders and drivers feel safer while on a trip.
Commenting on the launch, Subodh Sangwan, General Manager, East and South India, Uber, said, “We are thrilled to launch our operations in Agartala with our most popular and much-loved Auto product, marking Uber’s presence in its 83rd Indian city.”
