Two shot to dead over a dispute

A man and his nephew were shot dead and three others were seriously injured in a clash between two groups following a dispute over felling of a tree in Ahroda village under Jansath police station, police said.

Two of the injured were also shot and admitted to the hospital.

After the murder, two persons, Jagesh Kumar and his son Sonu, were arrested and a licensed gun and a country-made pistol were recovered from them.

The trouble started when a tree owned by Shiv Shankar and standing on the divider of his field from Jagesh was later cut down, the DYSP said.

As Shiv Shankar and his nephew opposed the felling of the tree, a fight broke out between the two groups resulting in Jagesh and his son opening fire, killing two on the spot and injuring three, police said.
