Tripura’s Dhalai honored as best district in water conservation

Tripura’s Dhalai district has been honoured with the prestigious National Water Award as the Best District in the Northeast region. The district received this recognition for its remarkable efforts in water conservation, including constructing recharge structures, geo-tagging water bodies, and planting over 41 lakh bamboo trees to support sustainable water management.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed pride in the district’s achievement, stating, “I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of Dhalai district, the administration, and all those involved for this remarkable accomplishment.”

The award was accepted by Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, the former Dhalai District Magistrate, who is now serving as the Sepahijala District Magistrate. The efforts made by Dhalai have set a benchmark for water conservation and sustainable development across the region.
