Tripura Youth Congress condemns removal of historic Bangladesh liberation war photo

The Tripura Youth Congress has strongly condemned the alleged removal of a historic photograph depicting the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War from the Indian Army Headquarters. Led by Pradesh Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha, a protest was staged on December 17 outside the Pradesh Congress Bhavan. The photograph in question captures the moment of Pakistan’s surrender to the Indian Army, symbolizing India’s pivotal role in Bangladesh’s independence.

Addressing the gathering, Saha criticized the alleged act as “shameful and unacceptable,” accusing the BJP of attempting to erase India’s proud history. “The BJP has drawn a blueprint to wipe out the country’s historical milestones. We demand the immediate reinstatement of the photograph,” he stated. The protest drew a significant number of Youth Congress workers and supporters, who chanted slogans against the BJP and expressed their discontent over the incident. The demonstrators pledged to continue their agitation until the iconic image is restored to its place at the Army Headquarters.

The Youth Congress emphasized the importance of preserving such symbols, which serve as reminders of India’s historic military achievements and its role in regional liberation struggles.
