Tripura Police seize ₹2.50 crore worth of y*ba tablets in major drug bust

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested one person and seized Yaba tablets worth ₹2.50 crore in Bagbasa, North Tripura district, on February 9. North District Superintendent of Police, Avinash Rai, confirmed the arrest and the seizure, stating that law enforcement acted on a tip-off about a large consignment of contraband being transported in the area.“Based on secret information, our team intercepted a Mahindra Max vehicle suspected of carrying illegal drugs. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer and DCM immediately rushed to the spot and conducted a search. We recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of ₹2.50 crore,” said Rai.

The arrested individual has been identified as Motalek Mia, a resident of Sonamura in Sepahijala district. Preliminary investigation suggests that he entered Tripura from Assam. Police have registered a case and are probing further links to the drug network.

Tripura has witnessed a rise in drug trafficking cases in recent years, with authorities intensifying efforts to curb the menace. Officials have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such illegal activities to protect the state from the growing narcotics trade.
