Tripura Police enhance security for Durga Puja celebrations

In anticipation of the vibrant Durga Puja celebrations from October 9 to 13, the Tripura Police have rolled out extensive security measures to ensure the festivities are peaceful and enjoyable for all. With preparations underway for several days, law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining order throughout the celebrations. Amitabh Ranjan, the Director General of Police (DGP), shared insights with ANI, stating, “We have been preparing for the Puja for the last few days. Recently, the honorable Chief Minister convened a review meeting where we thoroughly discussed security management for the upcoming festivities. Strict instructions have been issued to ensure safety and security so that we can all enjoy a peaceful Durga Puja celebration.”Addressing concerns over forced donation collections for the Puja, Ranjan informed that police officers, including SDPOs and commanders, have been directed to intensify patrolling in sensitive areas and all police stations statewide.

To further bolster security, additional forces will be deployed at key Naka points, with CCTV surveillance established in critical locations. Both large and small pandals—temporary structures set up for the celebrations—will be closely monitored, with designated pickets established for crowd control and safety. Meetings have been held with Durga Puja committees, police officers, and administrative officials to ensure seamless coordination during the festivities. “We have large and small pandals, and in every location where the Puja will be held, we will set up pickets,” Ranjan reiterated. As part of these efforts, special drives targeting crimes, narcotics, liquor, and antisocial activities have already commenced. To prevent incidents of drunk driving, police are conducting checks using breathalyzers. Senior officers are also making regular visits to police stations to uphold transparency and ensure swift action against any potential disturbances.

Ranjan emphasized the importance of celebrating Durga Puja in its true spirit, stating that any individual attempting to disrupt the festivities will be dealt with promptly. “The people of Tripura, whether from villages, micro-interiors, or towns, have the right to enjoy Durga Puja wholeheartedly, as it is the biggest festival in the state. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all citizens during this festive season,” he added.
