Tripura launches massive agri campaign covering 864 locations

Tripura is set to launch the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan from May 29 to June 12, targeting 864 locations across the state to boost self-reliance in agriculture ahead of the Kharif season.

Announcing the initiative, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to visit the state during the campaign. The programme will include daily farmer meetings in all districts, coordinated by three local committees comprising officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, Fisheries departments, scientists, and progressive farmers.

Each day will feature three sessions—from 9 to 11 AM, 12 to 2 PM, and 3 to 5 PM—with approximately 200 farmers per session. In total, 72 meetings will be held during the campaign, reaching out to over 1.72 lakh farmers, with 200 agricultural scientists expected to participate.

Additionally, 24 Krishi Raths will travel across the state disseminating information about central and state schemes. The campaign will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district on May 29.
