In a significant step towards digital transformation, the Tripura government has begun integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into its administrative processes to enhance transparency, accountability, and service delivery. This initiative was spotlighted during a Sensitization cum Capacity Building Workshop on AI for Good Governance, held in Agartala. The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and organized by the Department of Information Technology in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division of the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Chief Secretary Sinha stressed that AI could be a game-changer for governance, noting its role in improving public service quality. “Artificial Intelligence can significantly improve the accountability of administrative institutions and enhance transparency,” he said, citing the success of ongoing digital tools like e-Office, e-Cabinet, and the Beneficiary Management System (BMS). IT Secretary Kiran Gitte highlighted that AI is no longer futuristic but a present-day necessity. “We are building an AI-based innovation ecosystem that will ensure faster service delivery and better citizen engagement,” he stated.
The state is also working on strengthening its big data infrastructure to support AI implementation across departments. The workshop aimed to familiarize government officials with the scope and practical use of AI in day-to-day governance.
