The Tripura government has announced plans to develop Betlingchhip, the state’s highest peak, located in the picturesque Jampui Hills of the North District. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury revealed the initiative during the ongoing Tripura Tourism Promo Fest, emphasizing the peak’s potential as a premier tourist destination.
“Betlingchhip offers breathtaking views of Mizoram and parts of Tripura,” said Minister Chowdhury. Highlighting the peak’s scenic charm, he added, “Despite being a popular tourist spot, it has been neglected for years. We are now taking concrete steps to enhance its infrastructure and appeal.”
The Jampui Hills, renowned for their serene landscapes and vibrant orange orchards, recently hosted the festival’s first phase, showcasing the region’s natural and cultural wealth. Officials aim to position the hills as a hub for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and cultural enthusiasts.
Plans include improving connectivity, upgrading accommodations, and enhancing visitor amenities. The tourism department is expected to release detailed blueprints in the coming months, aiming to boost both domestic and international tourism.
