Tripura Court sends six Bangladeshis to jail for illegal entry

The Additional Sessions Judge Court of Tripura’s Gomati district has sentenced six Bangladeshi nationals to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for illegally entering India. The court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 each, with an additional two months of imprisonment in case of non-payment.

The convicted individuals have been identified as Soumiya Khatun, Taslim Biswas, Salina Begum, Riman Begum, Abdul Rahim Sheikh, and Aslam Bhuiya. In addition to the main sentence, the court also sentenced them to three months of RI under Section 3 of the IPP Act, along with a fine of ₹10,000 each. Failure to pay will result in another one month of imprisonment.

According to Tripura Police, the case was thoroughly investigated by ASI Dayal Debbarma of Silachari Police Station, Gomati district. His detailed investigation and subsequent charge sheet led to the conviction.
