The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee has announced the launch of a statewide public outreach campaign from June 22, as part of a nationwide initiative by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), aiming to rally public opinion against the BJP-led government both at the state and central levels. Speaking at an organisational meeting held at Congress Bhavan in Agartala on Sunday, Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha said the campaign will focus on critical issues such as rising unemployment, the deteriorating law and order situation, inflation, and crimes against women. Party workers across all blocks will carry out a house-to-house campaign, distributing leaflets and engaging directly with citizens.
“All District Presidents, Block Presidents, and members of various party wings gathered here today to prepare for this campaign. Beginning June 22, we will reach every household to present the reality of the current state of governance and the efforts of our national leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge,” Saha said.Highlighting the party’s push for a caste-based census, he said this campaign would also inform people of Congress’ demands for social justice and inclusive development. Saha, a former BJP MLA, made headlines during the meeting by alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack due to pressure from then-US President Donald Trump — a claim likely to stir political debate.
The Congress party plans to emphasize the rising cost of essential commodities, lack of job opportunities, and growing public dissatisfaction with the law enforcement system. “We are taking this message to every home, village, and block. The time has come for people to understand the truth behind BJP’s slogans and policies,” Saha added.
