Tripura BJP to highlight Waqf Act’s benefits for muslims

The Tripura BJP is set to launch a statewide campaign in support of the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025, aiming to counter opposition claims and highlight its benefits for ordinary Muslims, particularly women. The campaign will run from April 20 to May 5, 2025, as the party seeks to dispel misconceptions surrounding the Act.

Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee shared details of the campaign, which was discussed in a meeting attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha, state BJP president, Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb, and BJP national secretary Anil Antony. During the meeting, CM Saha emphasized that the Waqf Amendment Act aligns with the government’s inclusive development agenda.

“The Waqf Amendment Act will benefit the common Muslims, especially women,” Saha stated. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash, Sabka Vishwas’ reflects in this Act, which will uplift poor Muslims, just as the abolition of Triple Talaq secured dignity for minority women.”

Anil Antony also highlighted that the Act is designed to improve the lives of millions of poor Muslims, ensuring greater empowerment and opportunities.
