Trio Caught In Dhubri With 800 Grams Fake Gold

On Saturday, police detained three guys in Assam’s Dhubri district after seizing over 800 kilos of suspected false gold. The arrests occurred in the Choto Pokalagi area of Golokganj Police Station. The suspects have been identified as Sorhab Ali (55) and Sadek Ali (58), both of Belengamari (Sarkarpara), and Sorbesh Ali (35) of Majherchar, all of whom are under the jurisdiction of the Dhubri Police Station.

Police discovered two gold-like items totaling 798.9 grams and an iron cutter in their possession. Authorities assume the products are fake and part of a larger criminal trading conspiracy.

“We are searching for the source of the seized material and looking into potential connections to a larger smuggling racket,” according to a police representative.
