Gangtok is witnessing an increasing number of tourists from around the country due to its scenic charm and beauty. Young hikers from Pan-India are coming to explore the beautiful city of Gangtok. It is considered to be the base for hikers and trekkers for going through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges. The major attraction of the city is a Tibetan Buddhist centre that attracts monks from Nepal, Ladakh and Himachal etc.
A ropeway, beginning from Deorali Bazar is a popular and thrilling tourist attraction of this city. It is adjacent to Mahatma Gandhi Marg. Deorali Bazar is bustling with enthusiastic tourists and their families. It was built in the year 2003, connecting market place to the Tashiling Secretariat via Sikkim Legislative Assembly. The visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the full Gangtok city while taking a ride in this ropeway. The entire ropeway, situated in the heart of the city is being managed by Damodar Ropeways and Infra Limited. It is easily accessible by locals and tourists. The services commence in the morning around 9 am and go up to 5 pm in the evening.
