A tragic accident in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Siang district claimed the life of a 52-year-old man and left his seven-year-old grandchild injured when a train collided with their vehicle on Friday.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. near Pale village, Dimow, as the car attempted to cross the railway tracks. The vehicle was hit by the Murkongselek-Tezpur special train, which dragged the car for nearly a kilometer, according to GRP assistant sub-inspector Ganesh Hazarika.
The victim, identified as Rigo Riba, a sub-inspector in the Indian Reserve Battalion, was traveling from Pasighat in East Siang district to his native village. Riba was killed instantly by the impact, while his grandchild, who sustained injuries, was rushed to Dibrugarh in Assam for further medical treatment.
