Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd and Jaguar Land Rover Plc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the licensing of JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture platform for the development of TPEM’s ‘premium pure electric’ vehicles series ‘Avinya’ on the EMA platform, including a royalty fee for electrical architecture, electric drive unit, battery pack, and manufacturing know-hows. TPEM and JLR will also enter into an Engineering Services Agreement (ESA) to support TPEM’s change content requirements for the first vehicle development.
JLR is set to launch its next generation of ‘pure electric’ mid-sized SUVs in international markets starting from 2025. The EMA platform, optimized for native BEV proportions, will offer enhanced interior space, comfort, and vision.
It will feature advanced electrical and electronic architecture, connectivity, software, and over-the-air capability, delivering world-class vehicle efficiency and range. The ‘Avinya’ concept, introduced in 2022, offers a premium electric mobility experience with next-generation connectivity, ADAS, performance, refinement, and safety, partnering with JLR on the EMA platform for global competitiveness.
