In a strategic move to expand its community-driven initiatives in the Northeast, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Mizoram to implement holistic CSR interventions. The MoU was exchanged in Aizawl in the presence of Chief Minister Lalduhoma, senior government officials, and TKM executives including Executive VP Vikram Gulati.
The partnership targets three key areas—road safety awareness for commercial taxi drivers, upgrading traffic surveillance systems, and enhancing disaster response capacity. As part of the collaboration, TKM has handed over 34 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and 20 CCTV units under Aizawl’s Smart City mission, benefiting 4 lakh residents. In addition, two backhoe machines have been provided to boost the state’s preparedness against natural calamities such as landslides. Earlier this year, TKM conducted a statewide road safety and health awareness campaign for over 800 taxi drivers during National Road Safety Month.
In Aizawl, the investment in surveillance and infrastructure is expected to enhance urban mobility, reduce accident rates, and boost consumer confidence. The improved safety environment is likely to spur economic activity and attract further investments in the region’s growing urban sectors.
