Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability on World Forest Day and World Water Day, aligning with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 (TEC 2050). The company continues its efforts to minimize carbon emissions, optimize water usage, and enhance biodiversity conservation. At its Karnataka facility, TKM follows a ‘4R’ water strategy—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recharge—meeting 89.3% of its production water needs through recycled water and rainwater harvesting. With a rainwater storage capacity of 51,000 cubic meters and 18 groundwater recharge pits, the company is progressing towards becoming a Zero Liquid Discharge plant. Its afforestation initiatives have resulted in over 328,000 saplings planted, contributing significantly to carbon sequestration.
Sharing his thoughts, Mr. B. Padmanabha, Executive Vice President & Director – Manufacturing at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said,“For us, sustainability is deeply woven into every aspect of our business. Over these 26 remarkable years of our successful operations in India, our journey has always been driven by a commitment to creating lasting value through innovation, corporate responsibility, and meaningful relationships with the communities. Guided by TEC 2050, we integrate pioneering sustainability practices not only in our plant operations but across the entire value chain, driving real change in the society. Our vision is clear—to create a future where sustainability and well-being thrive together, enriching lives, while protecting our planet. We take pride in the impact we have made and remain committed to driving lasting, sustainable change. Our work continues, building a brighter, happier future for all.”
TKM also invests in community projects, including the conservation of Abbanakuppe Lake and the 25-acre Ecozone, further strengthening its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
