Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to road safety in India, announcing that its structured awareness and innovation-driven initiatives have impacted over 10 lakh individuals across the country. Central to this effort is the Toyota Safety Education Program (TSEP), launched in 2007, which targets school children from classes 5 to 9 under the theme “Road Safety – My Right, My Responsibility.”
TSEP, driven by a three-phase model and active in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai, has reached nearly 9.3 lakh students through road safety skits, poster competitions, and school clubs. Over 1,600 educators have been trained to support the initiative. A parallel Hackathon program has engaged over 77,000 students to develop over 350 real-world solutions, including IoT-based systems and school zone safety measures.
Additionally, Toyota has launched initiatives for drivers conducted road safety and health check-ups, and installed surveillance systems benefiting over 4 lakh users. The company’s vision, rooted in a global 3-pillar approach, aims for zero road fatalities in India.
