Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has reiterated that his party’s alliance with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura will not deter him from advocating for the rights of the indigenous people. Addressing a large gathering at Nepaltilla village under Karamcherra Assembly Constituency in Dhalai District, Pradyot made it clear that the Tiprasa community’s interests remain his top priority. “We have aligned with BJP, but that does not mean we will remain silent. Tipra Motha is still on the ground, raising its voice for the indigenous people. We continue to highlight issues inside the Assembly as well,” said Pradyot. Clarifying his stance, the royal scion of Tripura stressed that his mission is not about political gains but about ensuring justice for his community. “I am not playing politics here. My priority is my people, and I am here to secure their future. We are not afraid of anyone,” he added.
Reaffirming his long-standing demand for a ‘Greater Tipraland’, Pradyot urged his supporters to focus on strategy rather than violence. “This is not a time to fight with rifles but to use intelligence and dialogue to claim our rightful place. It may not happen today or tomorrow, but one day, we will achieve Greater Tipraland. This is a fight for future generations,” he stated. He also criticized past governments and political parties for failing the indigenous people. “For 70 years, leaders of CPIM, Congress, BJP, IPFT, and even Tipra Motha have done politics, but none have truly spoken for the community. Because of this, our people have gone from being a majority to a minority. But if we stand together, we will be the ones ruling the state in the next five years,” he declared.
Pradyot reiterated that his commitment is to his people, not to any political outfit.“For me, the community comes first, not the party. Even today, funds sanctioned by the Centre are stuck in Agartala. As the grandson of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma, I will never betray my people,” he said.
