Tipra Motha Party Chief Urges Indigenous Unity

Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), has called for unity among Tripura’s indigenous communities, warning that political divisions impede development and threaten future generations. Speaking in Dhalai district, he emphasized the importance of viewing all individuals as indigenous to Tripura rather than categorizing them by sub-community identities such as Chakma, Reang, Jamatia, or Debbarma. He argued that such divisions serve political agendas rather than the common good and stressed that collective action is necessary for securing rights, resources, and equitable development. Debbarma highlighted urgent issues in governance and infrastructure, advocating for the prioritization of housing, roads, hospitals, and schools over petty political disputes. He criticized the state’s political discourse for focusing more on rivalry than on actionable solutions and pointed out that the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council often functions as a dependent entity, reliant on state funding, which can stifle progress if financial support is insufficient or delayed.
