Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for a cabinet meeting as the Yamuna water continued to rise, showing signs of calm. He also warned that the crisis is not over yet.
Although the river level has gradually receded, several areas such as ITO and Indraprastha remain waterlogged. Delhi has been witnessing a flood disaster for the past few days due to heavy rains in the wake of heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and several parts of North India and release of excess water from Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana.
While some roads have been opened to commuters, some roads are still closed due to waterlogging. On Friday, three boys drowned while taking a bath in the flood waters of the Yamuna at Mukundapur Chowk. Meanwhile, restrictions have been imposed on the speed of Delhi Metro trains running over the Yamuna Bridge as the water level has started receding by several centimeters.
