The Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, launched on May 29 to benefit 1.72 lakh farmers in Tripura, has already reached over 1.1 lakh farmers in just seven days, according to the state Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department. The campaign, which will continue for 12 working days, is holding 72 daily gatherings across all districts to promote awareness, share knowledge, and address farmers’ concerns. “As of today, we’ve connected with 1,01,389 farmers. We are on track to exceed our target well before the deadline,” a senior official said.
The campaign was inaugurated at Shalgara village in Gomati district by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath. Speaking on the occasion, Nath highlighted the revitalised role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), stating that all eight KVKs in the state are now active in providing technical guidance and promoting research-based practices.
The minister also mentioned the launch of mobile soil testing vans to assist farmers in assessing soil health and improving crop productivity. “Scientific farming practices will help farmers reduce input costs and boost incomes,” Nath said, affirming the state government’s commitment to inclusive rural development.
