The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Abhishek Sharma has made a spectacular debut on an elite list. The only batter to score more than 400 runs in consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons with a strike rate higher than 180 is Sharma. Additionally, he is only the second hitter to achieve 400+ runs at 180+ strike rate in multiple IPL seasons; the other player being Glenn Maxwell of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) (in 2014 and 2023). Additionally, he is just the second hitter to reach 400+ runs in an IPL season (484 runs in 2024) with a 200+ strike rate; the other player is Andre Russell, an all-rounder with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) (510 runs in 2019). In the game’s shorter formats, Sharma is among the most effective openers.
Sharma initially attracted notice as a teenager and was selected by the Delhi Capitals in 2018 because of his clean striking. Abhishek has been an important member of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2019. He has contributed with the bat and occasionally with left-arm orthodox spin. He has the record for the joint-fastest 50 by an SRH batsman with just 16 balls. In 77 IPL games, the Hyderabad opener has scored 1816 runs at an average of 27.10 and a strike rate of 162. In addition, he has a century and nine fifties.
