The Meghalaya CM announces the CM’s scholarship scheme for 80,000 Youth

In a major step to help Meghalaya’s youth, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme in his budget speech. This flagship program would help 80,000 students in the state starting in the upcoming fiscal year. The program would provide post-matriculated students with an annual payment of Rs 6,000 to assist with their educational costs. The Chief Minister explained the reasoning for the plan to reporters, saying: “We felt that the students, because all the feedback I get, seems students really need support.”

Therefore, even though we are unable to provide them with complete help in every aspect, at least some form of government assistance would be beneficial in encouraging them to pursue higher education. For this reason, we developed the CM Scholarship Scheme, a scheme in which each post-matric student enrolled in various post-matric degrees will receive Rs 6,000 annually. The project will begin in the next fiscal year, and the Chief Minister also disclosed that Rs 48 crore has been set aside for it. “This is the new plan, and it will begin in the upcoming fiscal year,” he continued.
