The Lancet Commission appointed Dr. Salins as the new Commissioner for cancer study

The Lancet Commission has proudly announced the appointment of Dr. Naveen Salins as their new Commissioner. Dr. Salins, known for his exceptional contributions to the field of Palliative Medicine and Cancer Care, will spearhead a comprehensive study addressing the humanitarian crisis of cancer in low-resource regions across the globe. The commission has a distinguished body of experts hailing from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and Oceania as its members.

Dr. Naveen Salins receives congratulation from Pro-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr. HS Ballal and Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr. MD Venkatesh for his remarkable achievement. Dr. Salins received commendation from Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of Kasturba Medical College, and Dr. Sharath Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, for his dedication and expertise in cancer care and research.

The Lancet Commission, led by Dr. Salins, will analyze the disparity between biomedical and humanitarian aspects of cancer care from November 15-17, 2023, and Toronto in 2024. Their mission is to address resource imbalance in cancer research, education, and clinical care by analyzing political economy, value systems, and commercial drivers. Dr. Salins, a Professor and Head of the Palliative Medicine Department at Kasturba Medical College Manipal, received the prestigious international palliative care award from the European Association of Palliative in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
