Thakur inspects shelter homes, meets beneficiaries in Mizoram

Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, began her three-day visit to Mizoram on Wednesday with a series of inspections at shelter homes and child welfare institutions in Aizawl.

Thakur visited key facilities in Durtlang, including Shakti Sadan, Observation Home, Special Home, and Place of Safety, all catering to women in distress and juveniles in conflict with the law. She reviewed services, interacted with staff and beneficiaries, and assessed the impact of welfare schemes implemented under her ministry.

Later, the Union Minister held a high-level review meeting with Mizoram’s Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii and senior officials to evaluate the performance of central schemes and identify gaps in implementation. Emphasis was placed on improving coordination between the Centre and state for effective service delivery.

On Thursday, Thakur will travel to Khawzawl and Champhai districts to inspect additional facilities and engage with grassroots stakeholders.
