Terrorist who shot dead bank manager killed in J&K’s Shopian, killer of teacher trapped in Kulgam

Two terrorists were shot dead in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian on Wednesday. One of the slain Ultras was involved in the killing of a bank supervisor in Kulgam earlier this month, police said.

The terrorists, who were killed in an encounter in Shopian’s Kanjeula area, were identified as Jan Mohammad Lone and his accomplice Tufail Gunai. Both belong to banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, Kashmir Quarter Police said.

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Jan Mohammad Lone of Shopian. Besides various terrorist offences, he was once concerned about the latest killing of bank supervisor Vijay Kumar on June 2 in Kulgam district,” DGP Dilbagh Singh told India Today.

Vijay Kumar, a bank supervisor from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, was once working in Kulgam district. He was shot dead once by terrorists in broad daylight on June 2 amid a spike in targeted killings in the Valley of late.

Elsewhere in Kulgam’s Kujar village today, security forces cornered a terrorist suspected to be involved in the killing of school instructor Rajni Bala. The 36-year-old was once shot dead by terrorists in Kulgam’s Gopalpora area on June 8.

The arrival in Kujar started on Tuesday evening and the terrorists managed to escape by firing the first option, IGP Kashmir said. The security forces intensified the search this morning. The hiding militants took position and again engaged in gunfight.

On Tuesday, two LeT terrorists, including a Pakistani national, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Srinagar’s Bemina area.
