TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan quits, K Krithivasan appointed as CEO designate

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday said its managing director and chief executive Rajesh Gopinathan has resigned, effective September 15.

The company’s board has named Krittivasan as CEO-designate effective Thursday. He will take over as managing director and CEO in the next financial year, subject to shareholder approval, the company said in an exchange filing.

Gopinathan was elevated in the role of Chief Executive Officer in February 2017 after serving as Chief Financial Officer since the year 2013. In 2022, he was reappointed as MD and CEO for extra five years.

Under his leadership, TCS’s market capitalization crossed $167.86 billion in FY22-23, making it the country’s second-most valued company. He also helped TCS cross the trolling net profit mark of Rs 10,846 crore in the third quarter of FY22-23. Under his stewardship, the company’s brand value grew 212 percent to $45.5 billion over the past two years.
