Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), a subsidiary of Tata Motors and the pioneer of India’s EV revolution, has started FY25 on a high note with the announcement that its SUVs – the Punch.ev and the Nexon.ev – have achieved the coveted 5-star safety rating from Bharat-NCAP. The Punch.ev has set a new benchmark as the highest-rated Indian vehicle tested to date.
Both the Punch.ev and Nexon.ev uphold Tata Motors’ legacy of producing safer vehicles for Indian roads, offering features typically found in higher-end segments. These models come standard with advanced safety and connectivity features, enhancing their appeal to discerning customers.The Punch.ev, the latest addition to Tata’s EV lineup, boasts a range of features including an air purifier, LED DRLs, 6 airbags, and electronic stability program as standard. Select variants also offer 360-degree cameras and blind spot view monitoring. The Nexon.ev continues to lead the market with over 68,000 units sold since its launch in 2020, featuring a 12-inch infotainment screen, JBL sound system, and vehicle-to-vehicle charging technology.
The growth of Tata.ev reflects the overall positive trend in the Indian EV market, which saw a 90% increase in 2023, outperforming the 8% growth of the passenger vehicle industry. Tata.ev’s market share rose to 74% in FY24, driven by the introduction of the Punch.ev and the revamped Nexon.ev.In the bustling Kolkata market, the demand for Tata’s EVs has been notably high, contributing to the brand’s impressive market share and reflecting the city’s growing enthusiasm for sustainable transportation options.
