The High-Level Task Force on Infrastructure Connectivity and Logistics Cost, under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), convened an online meeting led by Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, with key participation from Mizoram’s Chief Minister, Lalduhoma, and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted Mizoram’s strategic role under the Act East Policy for regional connectivity and economic growth, emphasizing the significance of the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project. He reported the completion of the rail line to Sairang and the upcoming extension to Zorinpui, which is expected to enhance economic activities in the North Eastern Region. Additionally, he noted the potential of Zorinpui and Zokhawthar as crucial border trade points and advocated for robust concrete standards in future road construction to improve logistics efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. The Task Force is finalizing a report with actionable recommendations to enhance infrastructure connectivity and reduce logistics costs in the region.
