In a significant move, the state cabinet on Tuesday changed the Meghalaya construction regulations to allow for the creation of industrial zones in the township of New Shillong. Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh stated that the amendment's goal is to classify the industrial zones in the New Shillong township.
