To commemorate the upcoming fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on July 29, 2025, Swami Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya (SVM), Mohanpur, organized a special lecture on July 23 titled “NEP 2020: Reflections on Reforms, Challenges & Achievements in Higher Education with Special Reference to Tripura.” The event was hosted by the Admission Committee under the Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) in the college seminar hall.
Dr. Uttam Mitra, Assistant Professor at IASE, Kunjaban, was the keynote speaker, joined by SVM Principal Dr. Haradhan Saha and Associate Professor Shri Abhijit Bhattacharjee. The programme began with a traditional welcome by NCC cadets and Saraswati Vandana.
In his address, Shri Bhattacharjee emphasized evolving teaching roles and GER goals. Dr. Mitra outlined NEP’s reforms—emphasizing multidisciplinary education, autonomy, ABC, and foreign universities in India. He noted the rise in GER from 8% in 2010 to 28.4% in 2025, with targets ahead. Principal Dr. Saha praised the NEP’s holistic approach, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. S.K.S. Jamatia.
