Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Subhankar Bhowmik, an Army personnel from the state’s Gomati district, who tragically lost his life in an avalanche in Kashmir’s Siachen.
In a statement on November 19, CM Saha conveyed his heartfelt condolences, describing the incident as a great loss. “I am deeply saddened by the death of Subhankar Bhowmik, an Army personnel of the Assam Regiment and a resident of Birganj in Amarpur subdivision of Gomati district, in Kashmir’s Siachen,” he wrote on Facebook. “May his soul rest in peace. I offer my sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.”
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also shared his condolences on social media, acknowledging the bravery of Subhankar Bhowmik. “Subhankar Bhowmik, a brave Army personnel, made the supreme sacrifice while performing his duties for the nation. I express my deepest condolences over his untimely death and convey my sympathy to his family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” he said.
Subhankar Bhowmik, who hailed from Birganj, Gomati district, was serving with the Assam Regiment when he met his unfortunate end in the harsh terrain of Siachen, where Indian soldiers face extreme weather conditions.
