As part of the Road Safety Month celebration, a road safety awareness programme was held at Dorjee Khandu Government College in Tawang. The event featured Additional DC and District Transport Officer Rinchin Leta, alongside Deputy SP Kesang Norbu, who provided a compelling address covering various topics such as road safety measures, the police’s role in traffic management, cybercrime awareness, the dangers of drug abuse, the importance of education, and the value of human life. Students were informed about the POCSO Act and NDPS Act, highlighting legal safeguards and responsibilities. Furthermore, the programme included discussions on new criminal laws, the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, and the Amended MV Act of 2019. The event ended with participants taking a Road Safety Pledge to promote safer roads and responsible citizenship, and helmets were distributed to the students, enhancing the programme’s benefits and emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility.
